The SAFE Center (Special Assault Forensic Evaluation) in Sacramento provides childfriendly forensic interviews and partner with Sutter BEAR program for medical
assessments for child victims of abuse, neglect, or violence. Located on-site at the
Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center, it aims to reduce trauma by minimizing the
number of interviews a child undergoes.
Completed 340 Forensic Interviews
336 were children between the ages of 2 and 17
4 were dependent or developmentally delayed adults
292 of the interviews were for sexual assault, and 40 of them were for physical
abuse or witness to other violence
150 of these law enforcement investigations were accepted by the District
Attorney’s office for prosecution so far, with many cases still open/investigated.
