Sacramento
Regional Family Justice Center
ANNUAL REPORT 2025
Policy Leadership & System Change
The Sacramento Regional Family Justice Center provides not only direct services but also
advances policies that strengthen responses to domestic violence and prevents future
tragedies.
In 2025, we played an active role in advancing Joanna’s Law (SB 989), strengthening how
suspicious deaths are reviewed to better identify those linked to domestic violence,
ensuring warning signs are not overlooked and accountability is improved.
We also engaged in state and local advocacy, including the California Family
Justice Center Network Advocacy Day, as well as the Sacramento County District
Attorney’s Voice’s for Victims Coalition Advocacy Day.
In addition, our team contributed to national awareness efforts through participation in
ABC’s Hidden Homicides documentary with journalist Andie Judson, as well as coverage
with 48 Hours, helping to shine a light on cases where domestic violence-related deaths
have gone unrecognized.
